Why Your AM and PM Routine Matters for Optimal Health

Hey, you know what’s really neat? This whole idea of having regular morning and evening routines. It’s actually pretty fantastic when you think about it. I just sort of set up these little rituals that work for me, and bam! I’ve got this solid base for growing as a person and crushing it in life. It’s like, I’m taking some time to do certain things, right? And that ends up being super good for my head, my body, and how I feel.

In this post, I’ll give you a behind-the-scenes look at my typical morning and evening rituals. Now, you certainly don’t have to follow my exact routine – the beauty of personal rituals is that they’re, well, personal! Everyone’s gotta find what works best for them. But I’ll share what keeps me feeling balanced and refreshed day in and day out. My daily rituals are a really important part of my self-care routine. They help me start and end each day on the right foot, you know? It’s all about finding those little habits and practices that energize you and put you in the right mindset. For me, it’s things like taking a few minutes for meditation, journaling, and just generally checking in with myself. But your ideal morning and evening routines might look totally different! The key is discovering what resonates with you and makes you feel your best.

The Power of a Morning Ritual

Starting the day with a purposeful morning routine can have a profound impact on your energy, focus, and overall well-being. When you start your day with intention, it sets the tone for the rest of the day and helps you approach challenges with a more positive mindset.

I’ve found that my morning ritual really helps me reduce stress and anxiety. In the mornings, I’m totally guilty of hitting that snooze button way too many times. But once I finally peel myself out of bed, I like to start things off with some light stretching to get the blood pumping, you know? Then it’s straight to the kitchen for a big ol’ glass of water with my morning supplements. While I do a few minutes of my journaling, I savor my favorite green juice, which also serves as my breakfast. As I’ve mentioned in my previous blog, I’m passionate about green juices and can’t get enough of them! (Read about my green juice recipes here: The Ultimate Green Juice Recipes You’ll Ever Need )

In my journal, I write down my 3 personal goals for the day, 3 important tasks for work and 3 things that I’m grateful for. It’s a simple but powerful practice that puts me in the right headspace to tackle whatever comes my way. I find that when I take the time to do this, I’m much more productive and less likely to feel overwhelmed or scattered.

Overall, having a purposeful morning routine has been a game-changer for me. It’s amazing how much of a difference it makes in terms of my energy levels, focus, and overall mood. Even small, consistent actions like meditating, exercising, or journaling first thing in the morning can make a surprisingly big difference in how I approach the day ahead. I highly recommend experimenting with different activities and finding what works best for you. Trust me, it’s worth the effort!

The Importance of an Evening Routine

Having a consistent evening ritual is key for rest, recovery, and rejuvenation. A thoughtful PM routine can work wonders – it helps improve sleep quality, reduces stress and anxiety, and promotes deep relaxation.

My evening ritual is pretty straightforward, but it really helps me unwind and recharge. I always start with a good warm/hot shower then followed by my evening skin care routine. And then I take my evening supplements which are Selenium for my thyroid and Ashwagandha for stress relief and finish it with a warm calming turmeric drink (I love Organifi’s Gold! THE. BEST.) or chamomile tea.

Whenever I’ve had a long, stressful day, I like to take some time for myself. I’ll light a few candles, put on a soothing face mask, and do a bit of journaling – just a quick brain dump to get any lingering thoughts out of my head or jot down something unusual or memorable that happened. It’s a simple but effective way for me to unwind and recharge. I find this therapeutic as it clears my mind and makes feel happy looking back on the things that have happened or what I accomplished. I try to wind down by unplugging from all my devices an hour before bed and just grab a good book or do some mindful exercises.

Having this consistent routine signals to my body and mind that it’s time to wind down. I find I fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly on the nights I stick to this ritual. It’s such a simple thing, but it makes a big difference in how rested and rejuvenated I feel the next day. Definitely worth building an evening routine that works for you.

The MVP of my morning and evening rituals:

It’s fascinating to consider how these seemingly simple habits can have such a profound impact on our overall state of being. By bookending our days with intentional actions, we create a sense of continuity and control that can be incredibly empowering. This consistency not only helps in managing stress but also fosters a sense of accomplishment and self-care that ripples through all aspects of our lives.

Honestly, what I find most interesting is how these routines can kinda shape the way we think about things and tackle life’s challenges. When we start and end each day with a sense of purpose, it builds up this resilience that helps us face obstacles with more clarity and chill, you know? It’s a nice little reminder that even small, regular actions can add up to some pretty big personal changes over time.
