Do you ever struggle to find the motivation to exercise? You are not alone. I’ve been on a never-ending journey to transform my body from “doughy” to “showy”. However, most times I get caught up in a lazy streak and let those workout plans slip through the cracks. From hitting the snooze button one too many times to giving in to the allure of Netflix and snacks, I’ve experienced it all. It’s completely normal to have those days when we feel a bit lazy and don’t want to work out. But let’s reignite our motivation and get back into the groove! Let’s keep that momentum going strong and stay committed to our fitness goals. We’ve got this!
So, let me tell you about some personal tips and tricks I’ve used to stay motivated on my fitness journey. They might come in handy for you too!
Prepare ahead of time
It’s all about the prep! Fill up that water bottle before hitting the sack, select your workout outfit like a fashion guru, roll out your yoga mat and bring out your trusty workout gear, or even knock out your morning routine ahead of time. Not only does preparing ahead of time make your workout routine more organized, but it also adds a sprinkle of excitement for the next day. By doing these things, you’ll set yourself up for a smoother and more efficient workout session plus you’ll wake up with a sense of anticipation and enthusiasm for your workout.
Look good to feel good
Looking good and feeling good go hand in hand, and there’s nothing wrong with adding a touch of glam to your workout routine. After all, who says you can’t rock a stylish outfit or put on some makeup while breaking a sweat? I slip into my fabulous workout attire, tie up a fierce ponytail, and add a touch of lipgloss for that extra “I woke up like this” vibe. Get a workout buddy
Not only will you have someone to cheer you on during those tough moments, but you’ll also have a built-in accountability partner. Plus, who doesn’t enjoy a little friendly competition and banter? Having a workout buddy means you’ll have someone by your side to share laughter, jokes, and memorable moments with during your fitness journey. Remember, workouts don’t have to be all serious – having a companion can bring joy and make the experience even more fulfilling!
Find a workout you love
This is the key to making exercise feel less like a chore and more like an exciting part of your routine. When you enjoy what you’re doing, it becomes easier to stay consistent and motivated. Don’t be afraid to try out various activities and fitness classes. I tried various activities and classes that I enjoyed and I mix it up or alternate it throughout the month. Right now i’m currently enjoying rebounder workout, I talked about this on my previous blog. I have also tried dancing classes and rock-climbing. Embrace your curiosity, explore different activities, and find a workout that ignites your passion.

Keep a fitness diary and make it CREATIVE!
Keeping a fitness diary is an excellent way to track your progress, stay accountable, and gain valuable insights into your fitness journey. Write down your fitness goals and regularly update them. Don’t forget to add some motivational stickers! Trust me, when you see your progress written down in colorful pens, it’ll put a smile on your face. Take note, your fitness diary should be a personal and non-judgmental space. Be honest with yourself and celebrate your progress!
Some days, make it short and simple
It’s important to remember that even a short and simple workout can be effective and beneficial. Even a short workout can help release endorphins, improve your mood, and provide a much-needed break from daily stressors. Sometimes, when I feel sluggish and restless, I try to still move and get energized by walking my dogs around the neighborhood. Or I turn on my SmartTV, put it on youtube and start doing a 10-minute zumba exercise.

Experiment with different locations
The key is to find places that inspire you and make exercising enjoyable. Experiment with different locations to keep things interesting and discover new ways to appreciate your surroundings while staying active. Most days, I prefer working out indoors as it saves me time, money and I never have to worry about the weather. But some days, I try exploring the city, I use public parks and go on a run in different neighborhoods. But you know what really gets me pumped? Exercising in amazing places like the beach or nature trails. There’s just something about the beautiful scenery that gives me a whole new level of motivation.
Multitask!
Multitasking while exercising can be a great way to make the most of your time and keep yourself engaged. Listen to an audiobook or podcast, learn something new and burn calories at the same time! Or watch TV shows, movies or a youtube vlog. I like watching or listening to crime stories while doing my stretches and light workouts. LOL! Hype yourself up with a good workout playlist, this can help you maintain a steady pace or rhythm during a cardio exercise.
Reward yourself
Think of exercise in a positive light! It’s a way to take care of yourself and improve your overall well-being. By prioritizing your health, you’ll be able to better support and care for those around you. Be grateful that you can move and work out! Not everyone can physically do exercise. Celebrate and reward yourself to something small after you work out it can be a 1-hour massage, a hot bath, or buying what’s in your cart for every goal you achieved! Whenever I hit a milestone, I treat myself to a little getaway or a relaxing spa day. It’s my way of rewarding myself and rejuvenating before tackling the next goal.
