How Walking Your Dog Keeps Both of You Fit
Walking my furry friend is not only fun, but also a great form of exercise. Instead of just taking my dogs out for their quick bathroom break, whenever I find a moment, I make a point to dedicate at least 30 minutes to taking them for a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood.
According to the American Heart Association, walking for just 30 minutes a day can reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes. And let’s face it, we could all use a little more exercise in our lives. So, why not make it a fun activity that you can do with your furry best friend?
Walking your dog can also boost your mental health. Studies have shown that spending time with our pets can reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Not to mention, the extra dose of vitamin D we get from being outside in the sunshine can also improve our mood and help fight off seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
Track your walks with your dog! You have the freedom to customize your tracking experience when it comes to walking. You can simply get a wall calendar and use it to mark the days, distance and duration of your walks or just like what I do, use an app or your smartwatch to keep a track on all of these things.
Walking your dog is one of the easiest and most convenient ways to get regular exercise. Not only does it help keep you fit, but it also provides numerous health benefits for your furry friend. Regular walks can improve your dog’s physical and mental wellbeing, as well as strengthen the bond between you and your dog. Whether you’re looking to shed a few extra pounds or just want to spend some quality time with your pup, walking is a great way to stay active together.
